Local filmmaker wins again!
West Wyalong based feature to be turned into a limited series

WEST Wyalong filmmaker Brian Jewell has recently picked up Best Music Video and Best Director at the South Asia Indie Film Festival for “Powder Milk and Ice Cream – Barnado Park” while also developing his feature film into a limited series.
Jewell, who has won numerous awards for his work has decided to transform the feature film into a four-part mini-series, a strategic move that will not only allow him to manage production costs but also provide an exciting new format for his growing audience.
In a recent statement, Jewell shared that filming will take place in the scenic countryside just outside Melbourne city, with the new format providing a cost-effective solution to the full-length feature production.
“With the new format, we’ll be filming in the beautiful country area just outside Melbourne city to keep costs manageable,” he explained.
“The fantastic news is that we’re gearing up to start filming Episode 1 this October! However, to bring Episodes 1 and 2 to life back-to-back, we still need to raise an additional $10,000.”
Jewell has launched a fundraising campaign to help cover the final stretch of the mini-series’ production. He emphasised that every donation would play a vital role in turning the project into reality, adding,
“Your generous support is what will make this project a reality. Please consider donating to help us move forward. Every contribution makes a difference!”
This announcement comes on the heels of a big week for Jewell, who was recently recognised with Best Music Video and Best Director awards at the South Asian Indie Film Festival for Powder Milk and Ice Cream – Barnado Park. The win, which was announced during the festival’s January Edition for 2024-2025, further solidifies Jewell’s reputation as a rising star in the indie filmmaking world.
“We’re thrilled to be announced as the Winner of South Asian Indie Film Festival (SAIFF) January Edition 2024-2025 for 'Powder Milk and Ice Cream - Barnado Park,’” Jewell shared.
The accolade marks a significant achievement in what is quickly becoming a standout project for the filmmaker.
As Jewell prepares to embark on the next stage of his journey with Powder Milk and Ice Cream, he encourages his fans and supporters to continue showing their belief in the project through donations.
“Thank you for your continued support and belief in this project,” Jewell concluded.
