WEST Wyalong Netball Association was successful in obtaining funds under the Evolution Mining – Cowal Gold Operations, Round 1 2024 Cowal Partnering Program.
These funds have and will be used within their Umpiring program. Umpires are an integral part of the local netball community, and as an Association they rely heavily on their expertise. They help keep the game safe, fair and fun for everyone, all while developing personal skills of communication, resilience and leadership. Skills that will endure their lifetime.
West Wyalong Netball Association will now be able to provide resources to further educate, improve, and sustain long-term umpire community involvement in the sporting arena of local netball. Evolution make it their priority to support local communities at all levels, including grass roots community netball, and WWNA are very proud that they have partnered with their endeavours through this grant.
In other news, West Wyalong Netball Competition Round 2 saw the Toyota Rockets lift off in an ominous sign for the rest of the competition.
Last Monday saw some exciting action and intense competition as teams continue to battle for early-season supremacy.
In a closely contested game, Daniher Electrical came out on top against Netball Ninjas, securing a 33-26 victory. Both teams fought hard throughout, but Daniher Electrical’s consistency and strong defence proved the difference, keeping the Ninjas at bay for the win.
Meanwhile, the Toyota Rockets made it two wins from two to start the season, defeating 15s REP 46-20 in a commanding performance. The Rockets dominated from the outset against their less experienced rivals, with their attacking play and strong teamwork proving too much for 15s REP, who struggled to keep up with the pace of the game. Regardless, they will be better for it and there is loads of potential in the team for a strong season.
In the final match of the round, Harvey's bounced back from a tough Round One loss to secure a dominant 42-13 win over 14s REP who fought hard. Harvey's showed resilience and improved form, outplaying 14s REP across all areas of the court to register their first win of the season. Like the 15s, the 14s will only improve throughout the year.
As the competition heats up, all eyes will be on the next round to see which teams can maintain their momentum and who will rise to the challenge in the weeks ahead.
A reminder to all that the netball rep season is also here so noms are being taken!
