Herrick gears up for U.S. showdown
Local Flat Track motorbike champion Tom Herrick is off to the US thanks to Davies Motorcycles and community support
WEST Wyalong’s own motorbike champion, Tom Herrick, is revving up for the biggest challenge of his career, thanks to the overwhelming support of his hometown, the racing community and Davies Motorcycles, West Wyalong.
After winning the Australian Flat Track Nationals in Gunnedah last November, Tom has earned the opportunity to compete in the 2025 American flat track season, including major races like the Jackpine Gypsies Short Track in Sturgis and the prestigious Peoria TT.
But the road to the USA comes with its costs, and that’s where Davies Motorcycles West Wyalong stepped in. Partnering with Tom, Davies hosted a fundraiser to help cover the hefty expenses of shipping the bike to America, entry fees, tools, fuel, and tyres. Their effort, which includes the raffle of two brand-new motorbikes, has captured the attention of the local community as well as the racing fraternity.
The fundraiser tickets have officially sold out, raising enough funds to send Tom to the States and give him the chance to compete on the world stage.
"We’ve decided to send Tom to the USA to compete in four rounds of the American flat track series. After his incredible win in Gunnedah, it’s a no-brainer for us to help him get this opportunity," said the team at Davies Motorcycles.
"We can’t wait to see Tom go up against the best in the world."
The fundraiser, which includes the raffle of a brand new 2024 FC250 as the 1st prize and a brand new TC50 Mini as the 2nd prize, caught the attention of local fans and motorbike enthusiasts far and wide. The raffle winners are set to be drawn in the first week of July, and the response has been nothing short of phenomenal.
For Tom Herrick, the dream of competing in the USA has always been just that - a dream. Without Davies Motorcycles and the amazing community none of this would be possible.
The U.S. events Tom will be competing in are set to draw massive crowds. Among the standout races are the Jackpine Gypsies Short Track in Sturgis, South Dakota, which spans two action-packed days, followed by the Sturgis TT on August 10, and the iconic Peoria TT in Bartonville, Illinois on August 16. These races are known for their intense competition and rich history in the world of flat track racing.
As the countdown to these high-profile events draws near, it’s clear that the West Wyalong community is fully behind Tom Herrick’s journey. With all tickets sold and the support of Davies Motorcycles, Tom is ready to represent his hometown on the world stage.
